The Libertarian Party of Illinois 2011 Convention will be held at The Chateau Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington, Illinois, the weekend of October 21st -23rd.

This year’s Convention theme is “Libertarians for Peace and Prosperity“, and the Convention will feature an exciting blend of social and economic topics through speaker and workshop presentations.

A Democrat senator squared up to a Republican and punched him on the senate floor after a heated debate spiraled out of control, it has been reported.

Senator Mike Jacobs, from northern Illinois, is said to have marched over to Republican Metro East senator Kyle McCarter yesterday evening, swearing and pointing his finger at him.

He then allegedly punched his colleague in the chest before fellow senators intervened, pulling the pair apart.

House lawmakers today approved ComEd’s proposal for a sophisticated power grid that customers would help pay for upfront in the hopes the new technology would assist in reducing their energy consumption.

The House approval on a 67-47 vote came over the objections of Gov. Pat Quinn and Atty. General Lisa Madigan, who have both called for more consumer protections as part of the plan. Next up is the Senate.
